Critical Incident Procedure and Analysis
Identification: Recognising the Incident
Staff will respond to the incident, identify the nature of the incident and
respond immediately to ensure the safety of the individual or individuals.
The incident could be of a medical, emotional, environmental, physical, or other
reason. Safety of everyone will be the priority
Staff will identify and assess the support needed to resolve a critical incident.
Staff will respond to the incident immediately, and any factors contributing to it. He/she/ will call in more staff as needed for support.
Containment: Swift Action for Control.
Saff will call for an ambulance, police, or medical support if needed.
Resolving the Issue. Staff will work with the individual or individuals to resolve a conflict, and fill our a critical incident form and report it to CLBC.
Learning and Moving Forward.
Identify what preceded and contributed to the incident?
What did the person or people do that had an effect?
What was the outcome or result?
What made this action effective or ineffective? What could have made this action more effective?
Staff will discuss the incident, any modifiable factors that can be put into place to avoid future incidents of the same nature. A critical incident form will be filed with CLBC.
